Mill Maintenance Planner in Republic, WA

This position will be located at the Kettle River-Buckhorn mine operation. The 100% Kinross-owned Kettle River-Buckhorn properties are located in Ferry County in the State of Washington. Kettle River-Buckhorn was engineered to keep its environmental footprint as small as possible.The Buckhorn gold deposit is located approximately 47 miles by road from Kinross' Kettle River gold milling facility. Originally conceived as an open pit mine, Buckhorn was redesigned and developed as an underground mine, and the Kettle River mill was refurbished to process the ore.The primary mining method employed is cut and fill, with a target production rate of 1200 tonne per day. The Buckhorn mine ore is trucked 47 miles to the Kettle River Mill, which has a 2200 tonne per day capacity. Purpose of Role To provide complex technical support to the mill maintenance department. To provide work direction to mill maintenance staff. To monitor the day-to-day operation of the mill maintenance management system. To plan and coordinate the daily work schedules with each department supervisor in a mill. To keep equipment, spare parts, manuals, and files up to date. To plan and coordinate outside services work. To follow established policies, practices, and procedures when completing work assignments. Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to mill maintenance management Answers queries and handles requests related to mill maintenance management, which includes problem solving and judgement Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to mill maintenance management, while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches Escalates issues requiring knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions. Works with a mentor as needed Prepares reports and completes documentation related to mill maintenance management Assists with special projects related to mill maintenance management Provides analysis of work outcomes with guidance from immediate supervisor and / or a mentor May mentor or train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures, and methods Prioritizes and schedules work that other departments need from mill maintenance Reviews daily routes from each department and follows up on work orders that need to be generated from these reports Works with the supervisors and the Mill Superintendent to prioritize and schedule component rebuilds Inspects and replaces all company tools Operates equipment that includes but is not limited to small vehicles, fork lifts, and cranes (overhead and service truck) Addresses queries and resolves issues for internal customers, while ensuring service standards are met Maintains the work order system via the on-site computer system for the mill department Keeps detailed records of all equipment repairs, rebuilds, liner jobs etc. Maintains up-to-date history for each piece of equipment; keeps detailed records of all lube samples taken on each piece of equipment and generates work orders as needed Keeps detailed records of containment inspections, dust collector repairs, and emission sources to keep mill in compliance with the site Air Quality Operating Permit Keeps detailed records of all Pressure Vessel Inspections, ground checks, and overhead crane inspections to keep the site MSHA compliant Ensures internal customers comply with company policy and procedures and regulations in mill maintenance management Directs the activities of a team, including defining and delegating work assignments
Directs the activities of the Mill Data Coordinator and the site HVAC Technician in a cost effective, safe, productive manner while protecting the environment Acts as a communication linchpin with the team and models the organization?s values Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements College or technical training equivalent to 3 years of study Partial completion of formal professional certification or designation in appropriate area of expertise More than 8 years of related work experience Possession of a valid driver?s license issued by the state Must have an electrical / mechanical background in maintenance. Must have an understanding of scheduling maintenance for a mill operation Must have an understanding of service and parts manuals Good working knowledge and skills with a PC utilizing work processing and spreadsheet programs Additional Qualifications & Skill Requirements Previous experience in the mining industry Ability to learn quickly Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets Ability to work independently and as a member of the management team Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
